Hi! I'm S. I'm a 31 year old Brit living in London. An absolute film, TV and music fanatic.
When I was little I always wanted to be able to make my own website, but I had no idea how to write HTML code (and the resources weren't so readily available for me to learn how to in the early 2000s). I saw people using HTML to customise their MySpace pages, and thought it was so cool. I don't know why it has taken me until I am in my thirties to start learning how and actually do it! I suppose I needed the right reason to do it.
This is going to be a space for my fellow 90s & 2000s kids, who grew up with the early internet and miss it.
The idea behind the name 2000s Dream Vault is that this site is a space for me to share the journey I've been on, which is going back to physical media, moving entirely away from streaming services. All in the style of a flashy 2000s website. I wanted to create a website that I would enjoy browsing, in the same way websites used to feel personal and like you've really arrived somewhere.
Lately, I've been feeling so disillusioned with the modern internet, algorithms, AI, and everything in between. I've been very frustrated with how intrusive consuming media can be. My goal is to make my media consumption a nearly 100% algorithm-free experience. I want to take back control.
On this website, I will be detailing how I am going to do this, so you can do it too!
